LEADERSHIP OHIO VISITS CANTON, JULY 2010
REGIONALISM AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The July 2010 retreat took place in Canton, Ohio, home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  Our day began at the Canton Chamber of Commerce where we met with Mayor Healy and a team from the Chamber discussing Canton's economic developments, tourism, and a HOF Enshrinement Festival overview of activities and community impact.

Spotlighting Stark County, our sessions included engaging community tours of the previous Hoover Company facility, the Rolls Royce Fuel Cell Center at Stark State Technical College, Diebold, Akron Canton Airport, Pro Football Hall of Fame, Harry London Chocolate Factory, and the arts through an enjoyable Arts in Stark tour.

Canton is truly on the path to total revitalization with the new Art District, its unique art galleries, and the family-friendly First Fridays that hosts live music, outdoor performances by musicians, dancers, actors, and poets.

There is no better time to show off than Canton's "One of a Kind Celebration" filled with 11 days of football, food and fun, the 47th Annual HOF Enshrinement Festival.  The unique partnership between the Canton Chamber of Commerce and the Pro Foodball Hall of Fame staffs more than 4,200 volunteers over an 11-day period, to host 18 events, enjoyed by nearly 700,000 people!  This annual event truly provides a positive economic impact and promotes the spirit of the community and its people.
