Senior Planner - High Speed Systems Division - Aerospace Systems Directorate,
Air Force Research Laboratory

Keith Bowman currently is the Senior Planner for the High Speed Systems Division in the Aerospace Systems Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson AFB. In that position he is responsible for the planning and execution of the AFRL’s hypersonic strategic plan.

Bowman came to AFRL in 1985 to the Flight Dynamics Laboratory, working on design optimization and laser hardening of structures. In 1992, he moved to the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate where he worked on the development and transition of high temperature composites for air and space applications, progressing from bench-level scientist to Chief of the Advanced Composites Branch. After 16 years at the Materials Directorate, Bowman was selected as one of eight portfolio leads for AFRL, managing a $200M portfolio focused on hypersonic vehicles and long range strike platforms. Three years later, he was hand-picked to lead a high visibility Precision Airdrop program with the Army and Air Mobility Command. This experience set him up to be the Deputy Division Chief of the Capabilities Integration Division from 2014-2016, overseeing the customer engagement strategy employed by the AFRL.

Bowman has advanced engineering degrees from both Wright State University and the University of Dayton. He sits on the Boards for Leadership Ohio, Habitat for Humanity in Champaign County, and The Entrepreneurs Center in Dayton, and is the coordinator for a local veterans charity hike called RuckUp22.
